Published 21 October 2026 · Inaugural AGN Power 10
Every weekend, American football is being played across Australia by people who give far more to the game than most of the country ever sees.
They are players who train after work. Coaches who build a playbook around family commitments. Volunteers who mark fields, run chains, organise equipment and keep clubs alive. They are supporters standing on the sideline in the heat, the rain and the dark because this game means something to them.
From Victoria and New South Wales to Queensland, South Australia, Western Australia and the ACT, these competitions have their own histories, rivalries and standards. But for too long, much of the conversation has stopped at the state border.
We think Australian gridiron deserves a bigger stage.
Why the AGN Power 10 exists
The AGN Power 10 is our attempt to connect those local conversations into one national picture. Not to replace state competitions. Not to pretend that a table can settle an argument between clubs that may never face each other. And certainly not to crown an unofficial national champion.
It is a way to ask a question worth debating: which senior men's clubs are setting the standard across Australian American football right now?
Rankings can start arguments. Good ones should also start conversations. We want supporters to discover a powerhouse in another state, to recognise a club that is building something special, and to look beyond the familiar names in their own competition.
Results matter. Context matters too.
Our approach combines 60% statistical performance with 40% independent editorial assessment. The statistical component considers results, scoring margins, opponent strength and quality wins. The editorial component brings structured football judgement to a landscape where schedules, opposition and available information vary from state to state.
That distinction matters. A dominant win in one competition is not automatically equivalent to a dominant win in another. A club's record is important, but it is not the whole story. And when information is missing or a fixture's status is disputed, we would rather hold publication than manufacture certainty.
The inaugural contenders
The inaugural rankings are headed by Victoria's Western Crusaders, followed by Queensland's Brisbane Rhinos and the UTS Gators of New South Wales. The rest of the Top 10 spans clubs from across the country, each with its own claim to national attention.

The inaugural AGN Power 10 is now published following review of available competition results and independent editorial assessment. Rankings will be updated when new verified results warrant a revision, and AGN will correct confirmed errors transparently.
More than a list
Our ambition is for the AGN Power 10 to become a regular point of reference for Australian gridiron: something fans can follow, clubs can discuss and the wider football community can challenge with evidence. We will explain the method, distinguish verified information from editorial assessment and correct the record when new facts warrant it.
Most importantly, we want the conversation to lead back to the people doing the work. Behind every club name is a community. Behind every score is a season of preparation. Behind every rivalry is a story worth telling.
American football. Built for Australia. That is why AGN exists. And that is why we built the AGN Power 10.
