Stephen F. Austin’s latest game included the sort of Australian contribution that can disappear inside an ordinary box score if you’re not looking for it.
Dillon McDougal punted four times for 191 yards against Abilene Christian, averaging 47.8 yards per kick. His longest travelled 75 yards, which SFA identified as the fourth-longest punt in program history.
Two of the four punts finished inside the 20 and he had no touchbacks. One was fair caught at the Abilene Christian 9-yard line.
The 75-yarder gets the headline, but the placement was just as useful. McDougal repeatedly gave SFA’s defence a longer field to defend while the Lumberjacks took control of the game.
It is another performance that fits the Australians Abroad brief neatly: not a player simply appearing on a roster, but an Australian making a clear contribution to how the game was played.
