Braden Atkinson threw for 376 yards in the 33–20 loss at Houston, while true freshman Jesse Legree turned five catches into 136 yards and a touchdown. The passing game produced; the run game did not, finishing with only 26 rushing yards.

Texas Tech arrives ranked No. 12 and gives Oregon State a second straight high-level test. If the Beavers remain one-dimensional, the Red Raiders can attack the pocket without having to respect a consistent run threat.
Atkinson's willingness to distribute the ball was encouraging — eight different receivers caught passes in Houston — but 48 attempts is a difficult way to live every week.
Why Legree matters
Legree's debut immediately changed the ceiling of the receiving room. His first collegiate catch went for 71 yards, and his ability to create explosive plays gives Oregon State something it badly needs against better opponents.

The game kicks at 4:30pm Pacific on Saturday, which is 9:30am AEST Sunday. That makes it one of the friendliest significant college games of the weekend for Australian viewers.
